Former Hollywood producer drafted as Creative Portland head
Creative Portland, a nonprofit that works to promote and grow the creative economy of Maine’s largest city, has appointed veteran movie and television producer Dinah Minot as its new executive director.
“The vibrant arts community and thriving food culture are an inspiration for creative growth, and I hope to facilitate new partnerships and enthusiastic participation throughout the region,” Minot, who will start heading the city arts organization on Oct. 5, said in a prepared statement.
Before moving to Maine in 2015, Minot worked as a Hollywood producer for several years on films including “Wayne’s World” and “Coneheads” and was the co-producer and head of talent for “Saturday Night Live” from 1985 to 1990, and director and editor of Lorne Michaels Productions from 2006 to 2009. Minot continued working in various capacities on various film and television projects in Los Angeles and New York until 2015.
“Dinah brings a unique set of skills and diverse experiences as a social media consultant, arts and community advocate, music producer and artist. We are thrilled that Dinah is joining us. She has a passion for Portland that we believe will energize and help us grow and sustain our creative community” Creative Portland Board President Sondra Bogdonoff said in a statement.
