Cunningham steps down as head of Kennebec Valley Chamber

The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce announced that its president, Ross Cunningham, will be stepping down as head of the association.

Cunningham's last day in the chamber offices will be Friday, Oct. 28, after which he'll be "pursuing other opportunities" according to a release.

"It has been a joy getting to know the businesses and people of the Kennebec Valley over the last two years," Cunningham said in a news release. "This is a phenomenal organization with an incredible staff that has accomplished great things during my time here. I look forward to seeing the continued success of the chamber and the community as a whole."

Cunningham took over as head of the chamber in 2015 following the departure of Peter Thompson, who led the association for 26 years. Under his watch, the chamber launched the ColorDash 5K race, which provided exposure to various businesses in downtown Augusta during the race while raising funds to offer additional resources to area business leaders.

During Cunningham’s tenure, the chamber also introduced the Small Business Resource Team, a program designed to assist small businesses in managing for success, and oversaw the relocation of the chamber to its new headquarters at 269 Western Ave. in Augusta.
