Opening date uncertain for Hampton Inn in Oxford

Although the new 93-room Hampton Inn located across from the Oxford Casino on Route 26 in Oxford is advertising on its website that it is accepting reservations starting Dec. 19, the town hasn’t issued an occupancy permit yet.

The Advertiser Democrat reported that as of Nov. 29, Oxford Code Enforcement Officer Rodney Smith had not issued a permit, citing a number of issues still needing to be addressed.

An inspection by Fire Chief Wayne Jones and then-interim Code Enforcement Officer Joelle Corey-Whitman identified several code deficiencies related to incomplete or incorrect work.

In April 2015, the town of Oxford approved a tax break for the developers of the $15.4 million inn, which was expected to create 23 part- and full-time jobs.

GIRI Oxford I, a subsidiary of GIRI, bought the property in November 2013.

Among the inn’s features on the website is that it is within walking distance of the casino and features stunning views of Mt. Washington and the White Mountains.
