Ramblers Way set to open two N.H. stores

Ramblers Way, an upscale natural clothing maker based in Kennebunk and founded by Tom’s of Maine founder Tom Chappell, will open two stores in New Hampshire this month.

A Hanover, N.H., store will open Dec. 19 at 37 Main St. A Portsmouth, N.H., store, at 100 Market St., is planned for later in December.

The company is scouting locations for a Portland store.

The Manchester [N.H.] Union-Leader reports that Ramblers Way plans to raise $10 million and thus far has raised $6 million.

It plans to open as many as 30 U.S. stores in the next five years.

Chappell sold an 84% stake in Tom’s of Maine in 2006 for $100 million.
