Popular Schoodic eatery to get new life

The scheduled reopening of Bunker’s Wharf Restaurant in Gouldsboro is being greeted with enthusiasm in the Downeast community.

The reopening is slated for the coming spring. The restaurant closed in 2010, reopened under new management for a few years, then closed again.

The new owners are Kristen Giroux, a principal at Acadia Vacation Rentals LLC; her life and business partner Dana Rice Jr.; and Giroux’s mother, Judy Giroux, the Ellsworth American reported.

A  Facebook post called it “more good news from the Schoodic region.”

Giroux told the American she would hire an Italian chef, restart some favorite dishes, bring in pub food and add a three-season canopied area.

The restaurant is situated on the waterfront with a pier, making it suitable for customers arriving by car or boat.
