Sweetgrass Farm's gin earns accolades in World Drink Awards

A spirits maker in Union was named “Best Contemporary American Gin 2017” in the World Drink Awards.

The maker is Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery, which is based at 347 Carroll Road in Union and, in Portland, owns the Old Port Tasting Room and Shop at 324 Fore St.

Sweetgrass was founded in 2005 and is owned and operated by Keith and Constance Bodine. The tasting room in Portland opened in 2013. Sweetgrass employs nine people in its peak season in the summer, Keith Bodine told Mainebiz.

In addition to wine and spirits, the company raises lamb and from them produces meat and blankets, he said.
