Portland Rotary names new president

Laura Young will take over as president of the Portland Rotary Club, the organization announced this week.

Young, who will serve as president for a year, replaces Bowen Depke.

She is vice president of philanthropy for the Maine Community Foundation. She oversees statewide advancement, marketing and communications. She has been a member of Rotary since 2007. She grew up in Virginia and New Hampshire and graduated from Bates College. She lives in Portland.

“As members of the Portland Rotary Club, we boldly step into our second century of service above self,” said Young. “In addition to our service projects locally, we will intensify our efforts this year on nurturing a club that is representative of the city of Portland with age, gender and racial/ethnic diversity.”
