Weeks after closing, owner sells downtown Bangor restaurant

Brett Settle, who closed Giacomo’s in Bangor on Dec. 23, has sold the business.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Matt Haskell, the owner of the Bangor restaurant Blaze, and his business partner, Evelina Kacprzkowska, stepped in to buy the sandwich and coffee shop.

Haskell told the BDN he was dismayed by the public’s reaction to Giacomo’s closure and reached out to Settle shortly after New Year’s.

“I didn’t buy this for much personal gain, though of course, I want it to make money and be successful,” Haskell told the BDN. “But that corner needs to be open in downtown Bangor. It’s just important to have it open. It’s a point of pride.”
