Tempus Jets sued for loan repayment
Tempus Jets, a Williamsburg, Va,-based aircraft maintenance and repair company formed in 2007 that expanded to Brunswick Landing in 2013, faces a lawsuit from a creditor.
The Bangor Daily News reported that creditor Firefly Financial Ltd. has sued the company and co-founder Scott Terry, seeking payment of more than $26 million.
The lawsuit was filed Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
The BDN also reported that Tempus Jets owed $115,054 in rent for its facilities at Brunswick Landing by the end of September, but Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Steve Levesque told the BDN the company has started to catch up.
“We often work with companies who go through some challenges like that, and we give them some latitude,” Levesque said.
Last fall, Tempus reduced its workforce at Brunswick Landing from 52 to 29, the BDN reported. A quarterly report for Tempus Applied Solutions Holdings attributed the cuts to delays in contracts it had won and higher-than-expected startup costs for contracts that had started.
