Oxford reviews plans for new modular home construction plant

The Oxford Planning Board is reviewing site plans for a new modular home construction plant that could provide as many as 80 new jobs to the area.

The Advertiser Democrat reported a preliminary site plan application for construction of a 70,088-square-foot building to be called ABS Modulars was presented to the Oxford Planning Board.

Construction for ABS Modulars is expected to begin this spring, the newspaper reported.

A mobile home sales center and sales business, Coastline Homes of Oxford, is also expected to come online this spring, with 10 to 15 jobs.

Manufactured and modular housing was one of the largest industries in the Oxford Hills region, employing hundreds of people a decade ago, the newspaper reported.
