A note to our readers about Mainebiz Healthy Business issue

In the annual Mainebiz Healthy Business edition of April 24, there were errors and some incomplete information in the “Quality ratings for Maine’s hospitals” chart.

Headings marked “maternity,” “safer care” and “overall” should have had more complete descriptions.

The first should have been, “Maternity care methods proven to be effective.” The second heading should have read, “Uses methods to make care safer.” The third heading should have read, “Overall patient experience.”

Another note about the chart: the key to the colors for “Best” through “Low” does not apply to the “Uses methods to make care safer.” That rating is not based on national and state averages, according to the Maine Health Management Coalition, which compiles the quality ratings data.

The updated chart also includes information about Central Maine Healthcare hospitals.

The digital edition of Healthy Business has also been updated. A corrected version of the chart is posted below.
