Sports apparel manufacturer plans to relocate to Farmington

A sports apparel manufacturer that has outgrown its space in the Franklin County town of Industry is looking to move into the former Skane LTD building in downtown Farmington.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that Origin BJJ LLC, a manufacturer of jiujitsu and combat sports apparel, is seeking a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant under the Economic Development Program to complement up to $600,000 in additional financing for its conversion of the property at 125 High St.

Farmington’s Board of Selectmen unanimously voted on Tuesday to support and administer the company’s CDBG grant application, the newspaper reported.

Origin BJJ’s owner Peter Roberts said the planned investments in specialized machinery and job training would result in the creation of 18 jobs and could eventually lead to a retail outlet for its products within the downtown Farmington building, the newspaper reported.

Roberts hopes to move into the Farmington building by June or July.
