Brooklin Boat Yard's former finance manager pleads guilty to embezzlement

Former Brooklin Boat Yard CFO Steven Nygren pleaded guilty on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to charges of bank fraud, credit card fraud and tax evasion.

The Portland Press Herald reported Nygren wrote unauthorized checks to himself totaling $732,000 and made an additional $62,000 in unauthorized charges to company credit cards of Brooklin Boat Yard. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.

The embezzlement occurred in 2014 and 2015. He was arrested in September 2015. At that time, he was operating the Brooklin General Store.

Brooklin Boat Yard  specializes in wooden boat design, construction, repair and maintenance.
