New tour boat association helps promote Camden waterfront

Owners of seven Penobscot Bay tour boat operations formed the new Camden Day Sailers Association to share knowledge and collectively promote their businesses.

The PenBay Pilot reported the association includes both sailboats and power launches that have permits to run out of Camden Harbor.

“They are collaborating and injecting vibrancy into the town’s day-sailing business,” Steve Pixley, Camden’s harbor master, told the newspaper.

Six windjammer owners also have permits for the harbor.

Between passenger boats and commercial and recreational vessels, harbor revenue for 2016 was $248,168, including $24,891 from windjammers, $3,300 from fishing vessels and $76,867 from permits and moorings.
