Levesque reelected to defense communities board

Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority in Brunswick, has been reelected to serve on the Association of Defense Communities board of directors.
Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, has been reelected to serve on the Association of Defense Communities board of directors.
As MRRA’s executive director, Levesque oversees the redevelopment of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station, now known as Brunswick Landing, which also includes the Brunswick Executive Airport. He previously served on the association’s board from 2007 to 2010.
The Association of Defense Communities www.defensecommunities.org represents nearly 300 communities, states and affiliated industry organizations, serving as a resource for information-sharing and best practices related to community-military relationships.
“Steve's long-respected experience in redevelopment and economic revitalization will serve as a bedrock for ADC's leadership as we face the very real possibility of a near-future Base Realignment and Closure round,” ADC President Bill Parry said in a statement. "His election reflects the strong faith and support our members have recognized in his leadership as the founder and co-chair of ADC's Local Redevelopment Authority Director's Council."
The election occurred during the association's annual Defense Communities National Summit in Washington, D.C. The volunteer position is a three-year term.
Levesque, who has overseen the redevelopment effort at Brunswick Landing since before BNAS closed in June 2011, brings to his role as a board member more than 30 years of experience in business management, economic and community development, land use planning and environmental management in both the public and private sectors. Previously, under Gov. Angus King, now a U.S. senator for Maine, Levesque served as the commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development.
