Bixby & Co., a maker of organic chocolate bars, added a retail operation to its manufacturing site and headquarters in Rockland.

Bixby has grown rapidly since being launched by Kate McAleer and her mother Donna McAleer in 2011. It moved from upstate New York to Rockland in 2013.

McAleer was a 2014 Mainebiz NEXT Award winner, but also won Gorham Savings Bank’s $30,000 LaunchPad in 2014 and last year won a $100,000 “pitch winner” grant from the New York-based Tory Burch Foundation.

Bixby bars are sold in a range of convenience and grocery stores, as well as online sites like Amazon.

The retail store, at 1 Sea Street Place in Rockland, had its official opening Thursday, Village Soup reported.

It was partly funded by a grant from the Maine Technology Institute, Village Soup reported.
