The Portland International Jetport announced Thursday that Maine IDs will be accepted at airport security checkpoints for air travel through Oct. 10, 2018. This is an extension of the previously announced date of Jan. 22, 2018.

“Maine’s passage of compliant Real ID legislation has prompted the Department of Homeland Security to extend the date that Maine IDs can be used for air travel” Paul Bradbury, airport director, said in a news release. “This is critical to Maine citizens being able to access the air transportation system and we are pleased to see DHS extend the date of compliance to October 10, 2018.”

More information on the status of Maine IDs can be found at the Department of Homeland Security’s website
