Androscoggin Bank MainStreet Foundation Q3 grants announced

Androscoggin Bank's MainStreet Foundation announced $9,020 worth of grants to four nonprofit organizations, bringing its total for the year to nearly $30,000.

The foundation awards impact grants of up to $5,000 that benefit programs that support at-risk children.

Third-quarter award winners are:

  • The Ecology School in Saco was awarded $1,820, which will support the delivery of EcosySTEM, a multi-year ecology program, in Regional School Unit 16 (Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls).
  • Maine Academy of Modern Music in Portland was awarded $2,700 to support efforts to bring innovative, inclusive musical education to youth ages 10-18, regardless of a family's ability to pay.
  • The Caleb Group/River Valley Village in Lewiston was awarded $2,500 to support a partnership with ArtVan to provide therapeutic arts programming to residents.
  • YWCA Central Maine in Lewiston was awarded $2,000 to support efforts to expand the capacity of its afterschool program through the employment of a youth development specialist.

"Each of these organizations is making a difference in the lives of Maine families,” said Steve Closson, chairman of the foundation. “Their good work deserves both recognition and support, and it is an honor to support them through the MainStreet Foundation.”

MainStreet Foundation also accepts applications from May 1 through July 31 each year for its annual “$25K for Kids” grant, a special gift focused on a nonprofit organization that makes a positive impact in the lives of as many kids as possible. The fourth annual “$25K for Kids” grant was awarded to Preble Street Teen Center in Portland during the MainStreet Foundation Annual Meeting last November.
