The former site of the Foundation for Blood Research in Scarborough is undergoing a major overhaul, adding office space and labs.

Contour Properties LLC acquired the land and two existing buildings. (The foundation closed in June 2016.) Hardypond Construction is renovating the two buildings for new tenants, Deirdre Wadsworth, president of the Portland-based construction firm, tells Mainebiz.

The larger of the two buildings, with updated design by Chris Briley of Portland-based BriBurn Architects, is being expanded, with part of it being raised from a single story to three stories. At a total of 36,000 square feet, it will be split into six units.

The smaller building, with design by Portland-based Caleb Johnson Studio, will also be expanded and will become a high-end, energy-efficient showroom for Hallowell-based Pinnacle Windows.

The property has three other lots as well. The largest could accommodate a 36,000-square-foot building and the two others could each have a 5,000-square-foot building, with construction completed as tenants or buyers are lined up.

Chris Craig at Dunham Group is handling leasing for the buildings now underway.

Sheridan Construction will manage two new projects: Husson University's new College of Business and, in Belfast, the Waldo County General Hospital, which will receive an addition to the ER and other renovations, David Whitney reports.

Ledgewood Construction of South Portland is building the Greely Regional High School Performing Arts Center. The architect is Stephen Blatt Architects, Portland.

Consigli, with a Maine office in Portland, has begun construction on the modernization of the emergency department at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Hebert Construction of Lewiston will handle a total renovation of the offices and distribution center at Geiger Group, also in Lewiston. Design is by Harriman Architects, Portland.

Harriman Architects of Portland was also the lead designer for the expansion of the Main Street School in Exeter, N.H., according to Seacoast Online. Meridian Construction of Gilford, N.H., was the general contractor.

Monahan Cos., which is based in Nashua, N.H., is the developer on Merrimack Park Place, a $100 million mixed-use site near Merrimack Premium Outlets in Merrimack, N.H. Plans call for a 42,000-square-foot office building, a 5,000-square-foot conference center and a Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, according to the New Hampshire Business Review.
