Martin’s Point Health Care is one of only two New England companies, and the only one in Maine, to be named to the 2018 Best Workplaces in Health Care and Biopharma list by Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine.

The 2018 rankings considered input from more than 95,000 employees in the health care, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Great Place to Work, a research and consulting firm that produces the annual Fortune "100 Best Companies to Work For” list, evaluated more than 50 elements of Martin’s Point employees’ experience on the job — including their pride in the organization’s community impact, their belief that their work makes a difference and feeling that their work has special meaning.

It’s the second time in three years that Martin’s Point was recognized as one of the best workplaces in Health Care and Biopharma sector by Great Place to Work.

“Our results demonstrate that we’re well positioned in the increasingly tight health care labor market,” said Teresa Nizza, chief human resources officer at Martin’s Point. “Great employees are the foundation of our organization and we remain committed to providing an engaging and professionally rewarding environment to both retain and attract great talent.”

Among the findings resulting from Martin’s Point employee survey:

  • 96% said they worked in a great atmosphere
  • 95% said they felt great pride in their work
  • 90% said they “feel good about how we contribute to their community.”

“In the end, it’s all about our mission and our culture. We encourage open and respectful communication, emphasize employee development and foster community engagement through special benefits like paid volunteer time off,” said Nizza. “We also balance our hard work by celebrating with our employees with fun company-wide events including summer barbecues, Ice Cream Day and Thanksgiving Pie Day to foster team spirit.”

The Best Workplaces in Health Care and Biopharma is one of a more than 20 Best Workplaces lists that Great Place to Work puts together in partnership with Fortune through a competitive certification program based on employee feedback.
