Building Business: NewHeight Group lines up contractors for next venture

NewHeight Group lines up contractors for next venture

Wright-Ryan Construction of Portland will serve as construction manager for NewHeight Group's new condo project, Verdante at Lincoln Park, in Portland. Archetype will be the designer. Verdante will feature one- to three-bedroom homes. The project is planned for the intersection of Hampshire and Federal streets, with one side on Franklin Street. The project will feature retail on the street level. It will be along the same stretch of Franklin Street as NewHeight's Luminato condo building, which was completed last year. Lincoln Park is on the opposite side of Franklin Street. A 2019 opening is planned.

Landry/French Construction spring season heating up

Landry/French Construction of Scarborough has a host of projects underway:

  • It has been named construction manager for the 47,600-square-foot Schooner Memory Care facility in Lewiston/Auburn. The site will have 66 beds and is scheduled to open in the fall 2019. Design is by Gawron Turgeon Architects, Scarborough.
  • It will be construction manager on Colby College's new boutique hotel.
  • In Portland, pending issuance of a building permit, it will manage renovation of 109 Fox St. for the new Austin Street Brewery and tasting room. Design was by Ryan Senatore Architecture, Portland.
  • For Bangor Savings Bank, it has started interior renovations at 280 Fore St. to be used for the bank's offices.
  • For Verrill Dana, it is onto Phase 8 of a 10-phase, $6 million renovation of the law firm's offices at One Portland Square. Construction is slated to be complete this fall.
  • In Wells, it will break ground in late May on the Wells Public Safety building, 40,000 square feet, with police and fire operations. Design is by LaVallee Brensinger Architects, which has an office in Portland.

Doing well by doing good

Emerald Builders, a Bowdoinham builder of net zero and Passive House homes, became a member of 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of annual sales to support environmental nonprofits. Emerald Builders was founded and is led by Reggie Lebel.
