Fowler suddenly leaves as Aroostook chamber director

Theresa Fowler, executive director of the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, suddenly left that post on Thursday.

The County reported that Fowler communicated her departure in a personal email stating: “It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing to inform you that effective immediately I will not be at the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.”

Various chamber officials contacted by the newspaper did not provide further information, with Chamber President Floyd Rockholt stating Thursday he could not comment on the situation at the present time.

In a news report by WGAM, Rockholt said the issue would likely be discussed at the next board meeting on Aug. 14.

In a Facebook post, the St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce said it was “saddened by the loss of such a professional and dedicated member of Aroostook Counties advocates. Theresa was one of a few people who we could trust, lean on for advice and was a mentor to our chamber’s executive director. She was the backbone of the Aroostook Association of Chamber of Commerce Association (AACC) and on the Board of Directors of the Maine Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE). Personally, she is an outstanding person and we are proud to call her our friend.”

The County reported that Fowler stated in her email that she hoped “to be employed again in the area very soon.”
