Owners of Quirk Auto aim to revitalize Bangor shopping space

A new enterprise called the Bangor Market Bazaar, offering crafts, clothing and more, will open in vacant retail space at 688 Hogan Road in Bangor.

The bazaar is being established by Quirk Auto Group's owner, who purchased the property last year.

“This is a unique way to take a dying shopping center and revitalize the space,” a Quirk official, Norman Braveman, told the Bangor Daily News.

Located near the Bangor Mall, the property includes a former Kmart store.

According to the market's Facebook page, it will be “a new and unique experience in selling as well as buying. We are going to be having crafts, arts, clothing, toys, glass, leather, knife sharpening, hundreds of different items as well as different services being offered. It is going to be a fun experience for everyone.”

The Quirk family's real estate company, QV Realty Trust, purchased the 9.3-acre property in spring 2017, the Bangor Daily News reported last year. Jack Quirk Jr., president of Bangor-based Quirk Auto Group, said at the time the site was purchased for future development potential.

The Kmart closure was part of a wider downsizing by the discount chain.
