Crews from AVANGRID affiliate companies in Connecticut and New York are helping Central Maine Power Co. to restore power to remaining customers who lost service when strong winds came through Maine early Tuesday.

CMP reported on its website Wednesday morning that fewer than 7,600 customers remained without service by 9 p.m. Tuesday, out of the nearly 95,000 customers who lost power at some point that day. Somerset, with 1,590 customers still without power at 8:30 a.m. today, Franklin (1,243) and Oxford (1,244) are the counties with the greatest number of outages still being reported by CMP.

“Customers who do not have service back by late Tuesday evening can expect to get their power back on Wednesday,” the utility reported in a news release.

Estimated restoration times are posted online here.  CMP urged customers to check the page often, as estimates are updated as more information becomes available.

Hundreds of lineworkers, assessors, logistics personnel, customer service representatives, and others have been working on storm recovery since early Tuesday morning. CMP has been coordinating its efforts with the Maine Emergency Management Agency, county EMAs and local municipalities.

Additional information on storm safety and restoration, including a town-by-town listing of outages in the CMP service area with an area map, can be found on CMP’s website online here. Because the situation is changing rapidly, customers are urged to check back often for updates, CMP stated.

CMP also reminded drivers to use caution when approaching utility crews, noting that the working conditions are difficult for the crews and contractors that are involved in restoring service. For a map showing where the remaining power outages are go online here

Emera Maine reported virtually all power had been restored today, with only a few scattered areas being worked on this morning.
