MEP president to retire at year's end
The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership will name a new president Monday to replace Muriel Mosher, who is retiring Dec. 31 after a 20-year tenure with the state-operated business assistance program.
A successor will be announced Dec. 10, Mosher said in an email, adding that she is exploring new opportunities and will spend more time with her two grandchildren.
Mosher has served as president since 2012. In that role, she forged strong relationships with other economic development organizations, community colleges and workforce training boards, and helped secure funding to support Maine’s small manufacturers, Maine MEP Board Chair Carl Spang said in a news release.
She joined Maine MEP in 1999, after serving as chief of staff for Maine Senate and House legislative leaders.
Previously, she was associate to the vice president for academic affairs at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, from which she holds a degree in business administration.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we thank Muriel for her incomparable contribution to Maine MEP over the past two decades. Under her leadership, the Maine program has become recognized as one of the best-run MEP centers in the country,” Spang said.
In addition to her work at Maine MEP, Mosher has served on the New Ventures Maine Advisory Council, an organization that offers tuition-free programs for career, business and financial education. She also has been a member of the Maine International Trade Center board of directors, the Central-Western Workforce Investment Board and the Maine Development Foundation Next Step Maine Employers Initiative Advisory Council.
The Maine MEP is a program of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and part of a network of manufacturing extension centers that provide business and technical assistance to small manufacturers throughout the country.
