Pines Health Services in Aroostook County receives $2.2M
Pines Health Services, a community health center network with five locations throughout Aroostook County, has received a $2.2 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The grant will support collaborative efforts to expand services and lower health care costs in northern Maine, especially in rural areas.
Funding is awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s “Health Center Cluster Program,” which is tasked with improving access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the health care workforce, and achieving health equity. HRSA’s programs target the economic and medically vulnerable as well as the geographically isolated.
The grant was announced by U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Angus King, I-Maine, and U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine District 2.
“Access to quality, affordable health care is crucial to the success and well-being of rural Maine communities,” they said in a joint statement.
Pines Health Services in a nonprofit, community-based health care provider in Aroostook County. The organization has five locations in Caribou, Presque Isle, Van Buren, Washburn, and Fort Fairfield.
