New podcast explores Greater Portland real estate market

A new podcast features Greater Portland business owners, real estate experts, mortgage loan professionals, home inspectors, contractors and other members of the community sharing their knowledge of Greater Portland and its real estate market.

Panel discussions in the podcast, called “Make Maine Your Home,” will be led by host Doug Schauf, owner of Make Maine Your Home and a licensed broker and Realtor with RE/MAX Oceanside in Cape Elizabeth, according to a news release.

The podcast will include discussions of how to sell or buy a home in Maine, financing a home purchase, home renovation, what to expect during a home inspection, closing on a home and other topics that provide practical advice to Maine home buyers and sellers. The podcast will also include neighborhood spotlight features, in which residents from different neighborhoods in Greater Portland share their thoughts on what it’s like to live in their respective neighborhoods.

“I moved to Portland 20 years ago and have stayed here because of the high quality of life, relaxed attitude and welcoming community,” Schauf said in the release. “I’ve created this podcast to help those relocating to Maine to learn more about why Portland is such a great place to live and work. The podcast celebrates all that Greater Portland has to offer, from its strong small business community to its natural beauty and award-winning restaurants.”

Upcoming guests on the podcast are scheduled to include representatives from the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust and the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary, Joe Fournier of A&C Grocery, Tracy Hayes of Mr. Handyman, Casey Hamlin of Northpoint Mortgage and Brandon Lussier with Pillar to Post home inspection services. In the series’ neighborhood spotlight feature, Cape Elizabeth’s Blueberry Hill neighborhood, Portland’s West End and South Portland’s Knightville will be profiled in upcoming episodes.
