BIA passenger numbers rise

11/05/09

The number of passengers at Bangor International Airport is on the rebound, thanks to new flights from Allegiant Air and US Airways.

The number of passengers increased 12% in September over the same month last year, according to the Bangor Daily News. The airport had seen six months of rising passenger numbers before August, when numbers dropped 2.6% over the same month in 2008. Rebecca Hupp, the airport's director, told the paper increased service from Allegiant and US Airways helped boost numbers, which helped offset the loss of Continental Airlines and its twice-daily flight to Newark, N.J., and could help balance out Delta Air Line's halt of its service to Boston, effective Dec. 1.
