Telford to lay off about 30 workers

02/04/10

Bangor's Telford Group Inc. is expected to lay off roughly half of its 65 employees less than six months after its acquisition by a Milwaukee company.

Bob Ziegelaar, general manager of the aviation maintenance firm, attributed the layoffs to changes made by cargo company ACC Holdings LLC, which bought the company last September, according to the Bangor Daily News. The layoffs are not a surprise, since ACC said at the time of the sale there would likely be consolidation, and rumors have been circulating among Telford staff, Ziegelaar told the paper. The layoffs are expected to happen within the next three to six months, and affected employees will receive at least 60 days notice.

Ziegelaar told the Bangor Daily News that the parent company also has authorized him to explore selling the Telford Group's operations in Bangor to another company, but that hasn't happened yet.
