Amtrak Downeaster to offer later train after Red Sox games

The Red Sox may be having a rough season, but fans have at least something to cheer about: the Amtrak Downeaster will run later trains to Maine from Boston on nights of home baseball games and concerts.
To better accommodate Red Sox fans and concert goers, a Downeaster train will depart Boston at 11:25 p.m. on evenings of Red Sox home games or concerts at the TD Garden or Fenway Park. The Downeaster will depart Boston at 10:30 p.m. on all other nights.
The later train time is part of the Amtrak Downeaster’s summer schedule, which began this week and included the start of seasonal service to Old Orchard Beach. The other Downeaster stations in Maine include Brunswick, Freeport, Portland, Saco and Wells.
Amtrak is also offer a Discover Maine Rail Pass, valid for 10 one-way trips on the Amtrak Downeaster between any Maine station within a 7-day period for $19 per person. The pass is designed to encourage car-free travel within the state and highlight the Maine destinations served by the Downeaster.
The Downeaster is a 145-mile (233 km) regional passenger train service operated by Amtrak and managed by the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority (NNEPRA), an agency of the state of Maine.
