Biddeford mill building purchased

Diane Doyle, a Saco woman, has purchased the former Saco-Lowell Shops building in Biddeford.

Doyle paid $425,000 at a foreclosure auction Monday for 160,000 square feet of indoor space and 3.5 acres at the site, Current Publishing reported. Doyle did not return a call Monday about plans for the property, part of which once housed the Ocean Auto Center. The main structure, which was originally part of the Saco-Lowell Shops, was built in 1900 and had recently been used for storage.

Raymond Cronkite, a Kennebunkport Realtor, was the previous owner. He bought the site in 2004 for $140,000 with plans to build an aquarium, according to Current Publishing.
