Two Maine airport projects are slated to receive $5.5 million in federal funding through the Federal Aviation Administration.
Princeton Municipal Airport will receive $4.98 million to fully fund its existing runway, while Auburn-Lewiston Airport will receive $635,114 to rehabilitate a taxiway.
U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, chairwoman of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, said the investment at the Princeton airport helped “connect our rural communities and grow our economies.”
More than $10.3 million in FAA funding has been announced since June for airport projects extending from Northern Aroostook Regional Airport in Frenchville to Portland International Jetport.
