Fires destroy businesses

A spate of holiday fires around the state destroyed several businesses.

The Porter House Restaurant and Blue Heron Pub in Eustis were heavily damaged by a Sunday morning fire, reported the Morning Sentinel. Later that day, a fire in the office and work area of Overhead Door Co. in Hermon caused extensive damage, according to the Bangor Daily News.

A propane heater is being blamed for a Dec. 23 fire in Camden that destroyed a 150-seat restaurant and 10-room inn that had been under construction for the past three months, according to VillageSoup, which also reported that a Christmas morning fire destroyed the Monhegan Boat Co.'s storage and workshop building in Port Clyde.
