Clark Insurance in Portland hired Elise Luce as an account analyst in its Personal Insurance Services Department.

ORPC, a marine renewable energy company in Portland, hired Melozi Scott as ocean engineer, Kerry Strout Grantham as development services manager and Kim Barden as administrative assistant.

Day One, an agency in South Portland dedicated to addressing substance use and mental health needs among children and young adults, hired Missy Cormier as chief clinical officer and Chelsie Smith as a clinician at Mountain View Corrections Center in Charleston.

Bank of America hired Genie Smith as area lending manager, Ray Quattrucci as small business banker for the Southern Maine Market and Diana Castle as Maine market leader for consumer banking.

The Connectivity Group, a design/build technology infrastructure and integration company in Falmouth, hired Paul Heath as AV and security sales engineer and Faye LaCasse as accounting analyst. Heath was previously a security system consultant at ADT-Protection 1 Security while LaCasse was with Emery Waterhouse.

Ledgewood Construction in South Portland hired Justin Hibbard as a project manager. Hibbard, who has 20 years of experience in the construction industry, was with Fulcrum Associates.

Final Draft CAD LLC, a BIM and CAD consulting firm in Portland, hired Meghan Pottle as a BIM/CAD technician. Pottle was formerly a Bath Iron Works structural designer.

United Way of York County in Kennebunk hired Reegan Hebert as community impact investment manager. Hebert most recently was program manager for the “Let's Go” obesity prevention program at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center.

Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries in Stonington hired Kathie Norwood as development director. Norwood was associate vice president of philanthropy operations at Northern Light Health.

The Island Nursing Home in Deer Isle hired Matthew Trombley as executive director.

Bristol Seafood in Portland hired Iréne Moon as vice president of marketing. Moon most recently led the Saucy Fish Co.'s sales and marketing efforts in North America.

Cribstone Capital Management, a registered investment advisory firm in Augusta, hired Edward Moran as chief compliance officer and director, private client services; Taylor Haselgard as portfolio manager on the investment team; and Crystal Cooley as controller.

Sebago Technics, an employee-owned engineering consulting firm in South Portland, hired Ben Viola as senior project engineer and Michelle Stacey as senior CAD designer.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Andrew Rice as hospitalist. Rice most recently was a faculty physician in outpatient and inpatient obstetrics and pediatrics for residents and medical students through the Maine-Dartmouth Family Residency.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden hired Jane Harford as a receptionist. Harford was previously with Bank of America.

The Beacon at Gateway, a luxury apartment community in Scarborough, hired Mike Moore as maintenance manager. Moore has 10 years of experience in property management and construction and is HVACR and EPA-certified.

Promotions

Bank of America promoted Rose Parsons to market manager for Maine. Parsons has been with the bank for 18 years and most recently worked in Global Commercial Banking,

iBec Creative, a digital agency in Portland specializing in data-driven website and e-commerce design, development and marketing, promoted Emily Drappi to director of strategy. Drappi was previously a senior digital marketing strategist.

Stillwater Environmental Engineering Inc. in Orono promoted Jeff Spaulding to project manager. Spaulding was an assistant project manager with the firm.

Whole Oceans promoted Jason Mitchell to president of the aquaculture company, which plans to raise Atlantic salmon on the site of the former Verso paper mill in Bucksport. Mitchell was previously COO.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, promoted Kasey Plourde to inventory specialist. Plourde was previously a customer advocate in corporate programs.

Appointments

Day One, an agency in South Portland dedicated to addressing substance use and mental health needs among children and young adults, added Katie Bellerose and Jessika Morin to its board of directors. Bellerose is portfolio loan officer at Gorham Savings Bank while Morin is medical director of IMAT and Walk-In Clinic Services at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

The Junior League of Portland announced Shikha Vasaiwala as president of its board of directors for 2018-19. Additional board officers include Eliza Warren Giberson, president-elect; Meghan Schratz, recording secretary; Ruby Dinh, treasurer; Leah Wallof, community impact council vice president; Shannon Vachon, fund development council vice president; Elisabelle Bocal, membership council vice president; Martha Sprague, mentoring and placement council vice president; Hilary Manuel, public relations council vice president; and Sandy Couch-Kelly and Liz Smith, sustainer co-directors.

Disability RMS said Tracey Zinck was elected president of the International Claim Association. Zinck is responsible for the medical, vocational, appeal and settlement departments at the disability insurance company in South Portland.

Norway Savings Bank announced that President and CEO Patricia Weigel was elected to the board of directors of the American Bankers Association.

The National Association of State and Local Equity Funds elected Bill Shanahan as president. Shanahan is president of Northern New England Housing Investment Fund in Portland.

Steve Smith, president and CEO of L.L.Bean in Freeport, was named chair of the Southern Maine Heart Walk, the largest fundraising event for the American Heart Association in Maine.

Achievements

Kaplan Thompson Architects in Portland said it is the first company in the state of Maine to be awarded a JUST label. The program, an initiative from the International Living Future Institute, is a voluntary transparency platform for organizations to disclose information about how they treat their employees and where they make financial and community investments.

Sarah Ruef-Lindquist, a financial planner at Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden, spoke on Women and Philanthropy at Maine Planned Giving Council's conference held in South Portland.

Casco Bay Molding in Sanford received the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership's “2018 Manufacturing Excellence Award” for its efforts toward achieving world-class manufacturing status and implementing Next Generation Manufacturing Strategies required to advance in the global marketplace.

David Libby, president and CEO of Town & Country Federal Credit Union in Scarborough, and Fred Lizotte, business intelligence manager at Infinity Federal Credit Union in Westbrook, were both recognized in Credit Union National Association's Credit Union Magazine as “2018 Credit Union Rock Stars.”

Saunders Electronics Inc. in South Portland was named the “2018 Manufacturer of the Year“ by the Manufacturers Association of Maine.

The board of directors of the Retail Association of Maine named Union Farm Equipment in Union as its “2018 Retailer of the Year.”

The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence's Breathe Easy initiative announced its “Tobacco-Free Hospital Gold Star Standards of Excellence Award” winners. The “2018 Gold Star Standards of Excellence” awardees at the platinum level were LincolnHealth, Maine Medical Center, MaineGeneral Medical Center, Mid Coast Hospital, Mount Desert Island Hospital, New England Rehabilitation Hospital and Southern Maine Health Care.Gold-level recipients included Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Bridgton Hospital, Calais Regional Hospital, Central Maine Medical Center, Charles A. The Maine Department of Corrections Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston completed its American Correctional Association accreditation audit achieving a score of 99.6% of all standards. The audit occurs every three years and assesses the facility compliance with 529 correctional standards.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, said several of its associates earned Promotional Products Association International Certification, which demonstrates a commitment to business excellence and continual professional growth. Kevin Boilard, Rachel Varela, Brittany Wiseman, Karen Deister and Nikki Hamlin earned Certified Advertising Specialist status while Scott Cummings, Noel Kaiser, Sarah Couturier, Tracey Despres, Dawn Ruler and Christa Matuszewski earned certification as Master Advertising Specialist.

OceanView at Falmouth, a retirement community in Falmouth, received “Bronze Level” recognition in the American Heart Association's Workplace Health Achievement Index.

Portland Buy Local announced winners from its “2018 Indie Biz Awards.” Recipients included: “Flavor of Portland,” Boda; “Healthy Portland,” Coastal Pharmacy and Wellness; “Environmental Hero,” Maine Island Trail Association; “Portland's Best Kept Secret,” One Longfellow Square; “Business to Business,” Portland Flea-for-All; “Portland Ambassador,” Portland Public Library; “Made in Portland,” Holy Donut; “Creative Crusader,” Maine Academy of Modern Music; “Best New Business,” Rose Foods; “Portland Icon,” Harbor Fish Market; and “Local Love,” Silly's. The Kennebunkport Resort Collection said that Condé Nast Traveler named Hidden Pond as the No. 1 resort in New England for a third consecutive year in its 31st annual “Readers' Choice Awards.” Other collection properties that were recognized in the New England resort list included Cape Arundel Inn & Resort, ranked No. 10, and the Tides Beach Club, No. 14. On the hotel list, the Boathouse Waterfront Hotel was listed as No. 10 in New England.

Stephen Picard and David Taylor of Portland Water District received diplomas for completing the Management Candidate School. Picard is a wastewater operations foreman while Taylor is a utility specialist.

The Maine Grocers & Food Producers Association announced its 2018 award recipients. Brackett's Market in Bath was named “2018 Grocer of the Year;” Wilbur's of Maine Chocolate Confections in Freeport was “2018 Producer of the Year;” and Associated Grocers of New England in Pembroke, N.H., was “2018 Associate of the Year.”

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, announced that Lindsay Zahradka Milne made the American Bankruptcy Institute's “40 under 40” list for emerging leaders in insolvency practice.” Milne is a shareholder in the business restructuring and insolvency practice group at the firm.

Disability Rights Maine presented Richard O'Meara with its “Equal Access for All Award.” O'Meara is a partner at Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland. The firm also said seven of its lawyers were included in the 2018 New England Super Lawyers list. John Bannon, Kelly McDonald, Peter Murray, O'Meara and Michael Traister were named “Super Lawyers” while Andrew Helman and Ali Tozier were recognized as “Rising Stars.”

The Maine Health Access Foundation in Augusta named George Hill, president and CEO of Maine Family Planning, as its “2018 Dr. Wendy J. Wolf Health Leadership Award” recipient.

Kelly Carey, administrative coordinator at United Midcoast Charities in Camden, earned the novice Certificate in Volunteer Management from the Maine Commission for Community Service. This course is designed to equip managers of volunteers with the core competencies needed to adaptively and effectively use volunteers to accomplish a nonprofit mission.

Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors won several national magazine awards. Folio Magazine's Eddies and Ozzies selected Nicolas Record first in the category of “analysis by consumer/custom magazines.” In addition, the magazine won honorary mentions for general excellence among city and regional magazines; and for single articles by writer Ronald Joseph in the “City and Regional Northeast” magazine division and by Laurie Schreiber in “Consumer Enthusiast Hobby” category. In the International Regional Magazine Association's annual contest the magazine received awards of merit for: Schreiber as “Magazine Writer of the Year” in the 35,000 or less circulation category; a story by Joseph about moose in the nature and environmental feature category for magazines with less than 35,000 circulation; and in the essay category, a story by Daniel Smith about building a Haven 12 ½ with his sons. The magazine also won a bronze for an illustration by Caroline Magerl.

Julia Sleeper-Whiting, founder and director of Tree Street Youth Center in Lewiston, was named one of the country's “100 Difference Makers” by the pension fund TIAA. To mark its centennial year, the fund contributed $10,000 to each of the 100 recipients' nonprofit organizations as part of the recognition.

Andrew Thomas, a senior vice president and financial advisor of the Downeast Group at Morgan Stanley in the firm's wealth management office in Portland, attained Morgan Stanley's Family Wealth Advisor designation.

Randy Wadleigh, president and CEO of Governor's Restaurants, and Susith Wijetunga, president of Tridyne International Inc. in Burlington, Vt., were inducted into the Husson University Alumni Hall of Fame. In addition, Roberta Burke, a retired admissions employee, received the “Presidential Outstanding Service Award,” retired basketball coach Bruce MacGregor was recognized as “Honorary Alumnus” and Jaclyn Fish, a regional market manager for the Northern Metro Market at Bangor Savings Bank, was named “Young Alumna.”

Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, said attorneys Rebecca Webber, James Pross and Jordan Payne Hay presented at the 45th annual Maine School Management Association Conference. The firm also said Stephen Wade and Webber were named “Super Lawyers” in the 2018 New England Super Lawyers list and that Braden Clement and Amy Dieterich were listed as “Rising Stars.”

Waterville Creates, a nonprofit that supports the arts in central Maine, announced that Serena Sanborn was invited to participate in the “Citizen Science in Theory and Practice Summer School” program organized by Ph.D. fellows of the Vienna Doctoral School CoBeNe. Sanborn is education and outreach coordinator at the nonprofit.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland announced that John Robinson, an agent in its Commercial Real Estate Division, received Certified Commercial Investment Member designation.
