The busiest month of Maine’s cruise ship season might be winding down, but the state’s bustling ports will be experiencing their largest traffic day on Thursday.
According to the CruiseMaineUSA Coalition, which promotes the cruise industry in Maine’s ports, September is the busiest month of the season. Some 111,022 passengers debark off 64 cruise ship visits from 27 different ships.
On Thursday Portland, Rockland, Bar Harbor and Eastport are all welcoming ships during the one day of the six-month-long cruise ship season when foreign flagged vessels simultaneously bring tourists ashore, according to CruiseMaineUSA.
The six visiting ships that will bring 7,622 tourists to the shores of Vacationland are:
Portland: Arcadia, carrying 2,016 passengers
Rockland: Oceania Regatta, carrying 684 passengers
Eastport: Pearl Mist, carrying 210 passengers
Bar Harbor: Norwegian Dawn, carrying 2,224 passengers; Seabourn Quest, carrying 450 passengers; and Celebrity Summit, carrying 2038 passengers
