New hires

Broadreach Public Relations, a strategic communications firm in Portland, hired Brian Lee as a client associate.

Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland hired Sokharath Keller as a board-certified family nurse practitioner, Michael Johnson as a hyperbaric and wound care physician and Peter Carter as a board-certified general surgeon at Northern Light Mercy Wound Care and Daniel Martino as a general surgeon at Northern Light Mercy Surgery.

Mission Broadband, a consulting firm in Bangor, hired Jason Gay as network engineer and project manager. Gay was previously senior director of IT and IP network operations at Otelco.

Maine Medical Partners in Portland hired Rebecca Bystrom as an oncology hospitalist. The organization also hired Christopher Cummings in Maine Medical Partners, neurology; Thomas Albert at Scarborough Family Medicine; Kaitlin Taplinger at Maine Medical Center, psychiatry; and Tapan Mehta at Maine Medical Partners, MaineHealth Cardiology.

MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor hired Romain Madelaine as an assistant professor studying neuron and muscle tissue regeneration at the laboratory’s Kathryn W. Davis Center for Regenerative Biology and Aging. Madelaine was previously with the Institut des Maladies Métaboliques et Cardiovasculaires in Toulouse, France, where he studied the molecular mechanisms of aging in the zebrafish as a research associate.

Camden Dermatology & Mohs Surgery in Rockport hired Kimberly Huerth as a dermatologist. Huerth recently completed her dermatology residency at Howard University in Washington, D.C., serving as chief resident.

Katahdin Trust hired Ruth Martin as vice president, retail services officer and branch manager in Scarborough. Martin was previously assistant vice president and banking center manager at Camden National Bank in Falmouth.

Criterium Engineers in Freeport hired Hunter Griffiths as junior project engineer.

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, hired Carolyn Liegner and Sean Turley as associates. Prior to joining the firm, Liegner worked as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. John A. Woodcock Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine while Turley was a law clerk for the Maine Superior Court and a fellow at the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader hired Lisa Collins as an agent in Scarborough and Nykki Stevens as an agent in Auburn.

Promotions

Oak Point Associates, an architecture and engineering firm in Biddeford, promoted Matthew Albert, Tyler Barter, Allison Towne DiMatteo, Peter Dunn, Scott Hughes, Sarah Smith, Robbie Tillotson and Kenneth Weston to principal.

Healthy Communities of the Capital Area in Gardiner promoted Renee Page to executive director. Page was previously assistant director.

The Diocese of Portland promoted Scott Graff to CFO. Graff had previously served as associate financial officer.

The Island Institute in Rockland promoted Kendra Jo Grindle to senior community development officer, Laura Shields-Haas to senior philanthropy officer and strategic lead of philanthropy and Sam Belknap to strategic lead of the institute’s marine economy programs and climate and energy pilots. Grindle was previously community development officer, Shields-Haas was philanthropy officer and Belknap worked with the energy, broadband and sea level rise teams.

Gorham Savings Bank promoted Kevin Heatley to chief technology and innovation officer. Heatley was previously director of technology.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, promoted Ronald Seguin to program manager. Seguin was an assistant program manager in corporate programs.

Achievements

Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said 53 of its Maine-based attorneys were named “2021 Best Lawyers in America” by U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers. In addition, 11 Maine-based attorneys were named “Lawyer of the Year” and 10 Maine-based attorneys were named to the publication’s “Ones to Watch” list. The firm also announced that partner Roger Clement Jr. was recognized in the inaugural “2020 Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers” for excellence in his practice.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland announced that Tom Ranello was rated the No. 2 Individual Agent in Maine, year-to-date. Nick Guerrette was listed No. 4 and Peter Hawkes No. 5. The agency also said John Robinson was one of the top five RE/MAX Commercial New England individual agents year to date, Crystal Tropeano was the No. 4 RE/MAX individual agent in Maine for the month of July, Portland Maine Living was the No. 3 RE/MAX team in Maine and Buckspan Deering was the No. 4 team for the month of July.

Consolidated Communications, a broadband and business communications provider, was named a “Silver Stevie Award” winner for its COVID-19 response in the fifth annual Stevie Awards for Great Employers.

Woodlands Senior Living in Waterville said it ranked No. 130 on Argentum’s “2020 Largest Provider Report” of nationwide senior living providers. The report ranks senior living providers by size in number of units, employees and diversity of care options.

The Trauma Intervention Program of Greater Portland named Margo Walsh, founder and CEO of MaineWorks, as its “Heart of Gold Award” winner as part of its 15th annual Heroes with Heart celebration. The Maine Public Utilities Commission in Hallowell said its gas safety team received its sixth consecutive perfect score from a federal evaluation.
