Northern Light Health, headquartered in Brewer, is planning a series of leadership transitions, effective Oct. 5.
Changes are planned at Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland, Northern Light CA Dean Hospital in Greenville, Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft and the Northern Light Health Foundation.
The announcement comes a month after Maine second-largest health care system announced the selection of Guy Hudson as its next president and CEO, to succeed Tim Dentry mid-October.
Charlie Therrien — senior vice president of Northern Light Health, president of Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland and president of the Northern Light Health Foundation — will step down from his position this fall as previously planned.
Therrien has served in leadership roles at Northern Light Health for 15 years, including leading Mercy since 2016 and previously serving as president of Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth.
At Mercy, Therrien oversaw the completion of the hospital’s campus consolidation, an expansion of services and the development of relationships that advanced clinical care.
At the foundation, he helped to forge relations with donors and the community.
“Charlie had planned to move on to his next chapter in 2024 but graciously offered to stay with us for a little longer to lead the important work happening at several of our member organizations,” said Dentry.
At Mercy, Therrien will be succeeded by Marie Vienneau, who currently serves as senior vice president and regional president of Northern Light Health and president of CA Dean and Mayo.
Vienneau has been a nurse and health care leader in Maine for more than three decades.
At Mayo, she guided the hospital to a merger agreement with Northern Light Health and implemented service enhancements in oncology, the special care unit and the emergency department. In recent years, she oversaw completion of the new CA Dean Hospital in Greenville and the development of Maine’s only mobile mammography service.
Randy Clark — a senior vice president with Northern Light Health and president of Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield and Northern Light Continuing Care in Lakewood — will add CA Dean and Mayo to his areas of oversight.
Clark joined Northern Light Health in 1996 as a controller with Sebasticook, became vice president of finance in 2005, vice president of finance and operations in 2016 and president of Sebasticook in 2022.
He is a member of the Maine Hospital Association Public Policy Council and the Maine Hospital Association board.
Cynthia Faulkner — vice president of philanthropy services at the Northern Light Health Foundation — will become the foundation’s president, overseeing all aspects of its statewide philanthropy.
Faulkner has worked to build strategic relationships with community members and supporters of Northern Light Health for more than a decade and has played an instrumental role in several capital campaigns across the system.
