Skowhegan Savings Bank, with 12 locations throughout Maine, has expanded its Fairfield branch lending team, with the promotion of a longtime employee and the addition of a new vice president and commercial lender.
Fairfield, Somerset County, is a town of 6,400 people north of Waterville. It is bordered by the Kennebec River to the east and is served by I-95. The Skowhegan Savings branch is in the central business district, at 92 Main St.
Chris DeMerchant has recently been named vice president and commercial lender. He has over 25 years of commercial lending experience in Maine, serving a broad array of customers, from those in the logging industry to the hospitality industry, to low-income housing tax credit projects and historic tax credit financing.
“Whether you’re buying a new business, expanding a current business, or managing day-to-day finances, I look forward to working with local businesses to help them meet their financial needs and goals," said DeMerchant.
DeMerchant received his bachelor's degree in finance and economics from Thomas College in Waterville. He is on the board of trustees of the Leavitt Institute, is a former board president and treasurer of Tri County Mental Health Services and was on the loan committees for the Lewiston Auburn Economic Development Corporation and Community Concepts Financial Corporation.
Lynn Andrews has been promoted to assistant vice president and community banker, bringing over 27 years of banking experience to her role.
Andrews began her career at Skowhegan Savings in 2004 as a loan processor and later spent 14 years as a mortgage loan underwriter. She has an extensive background in underwriting, construction loan programs and first-time home buying.
The Madison resident graduated from Kennebec Community College and went on to earn multiple degrees and certificates in banking and lending through the Risk Management Association, AllRegs Academy and the Center for Financial Training and Education Alliance, where she has also served as an instructor.
Skowhegan Savings is ranked No. 17 among the largest Maine-based banks in the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on $880.8 million in assets as of June 30, 2024.
