A state commission has given two more charter schools final approval to open by this fall, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Approval of the Harpswell Coastal Academy in Harpswell and the Fiddlehead School of Arts and Sciences in Gray sets the stage for Maine to have five charter schools in operation by this fall.
The Harpswell school plans to serve 60 students in grades 6 to 9 starting this fall and the Fiddlehead school plans to enroll 30 students in pre-kindergarten and first grade this fall. Both schools plan to expand within the first five years.
