Rich in maritime history dating back to the 1800’s, Searsport was home to 17 shipyards that produced over 200 vessels and produced more shipmasters than any other town of its size in the world.

Focus on Business

In recent years, Searsport has made great strides in setting a course for economic investment. A Downtown Plan, Downtown Tax Increment Financing District, followed by the successful creation and implementation of a Façade Grant Program, has demonstrated Searsport’s advocacy for business investment.

In the next couple years, Searsport’s quaint and historic downtown will transform into the Historic center of a century ago, with a downtown revitalization project, consisting of over a mile of restored infrastructure, new parking, and directional signage.
