Allagash International inks Kazakhstan partnership

Allagash International Inc. has reached an agreement to partner with the Calgary-based Caspian Energy to increase oil and gas exports through a facility in Kazakhstan.

South Portland-based Allagash, which produces valves and controls used in the oil and gas industries, announced the partnership on Monday. Caspian has exclusive rights to explore and develop gas and oil reserves in a 1,335-square-mile area of Kazakhstan known as the North Block.

Allagash previously announced plans to use the new Portland-based Eimskip container shipping service to send exports to Europe.

Terry Ingram, president and CEO of Allagash, said in a release that his company plans to build an assembly and training center in Kazakhstan and will use direct port service from Portland to Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The company also has an assembly facility in Colombia.
