Museum sets 10-year attendance record

The Portland Museum of Art recorded its second highest yearly attendance in 2012, bringing in 177,824 visitors.

The total marks the highest museum attendance in over a decade and a 34% increase over the tally for 2011, according to a press release.

The museum also reported breaking a monthly attendance record with 25,853 visitors for the month of December, due largely to the opening of the Winslow Homer studio and a museum exhibit of the artist's work that ran from September to December.
