Feds confirm Roxbury wind loans

The Record Hill Wind farm in western Maine has received final federal approval for its financing.

Following up on its conditional commitment announced in March, the U.S. Department of Energy has agreed to guarantee $102 million in loans for the Oxford County project, according to the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. The 22-turbine wind farm in Roxbury is proposed by Brunswick-based Independence Wind LLC, led by former Gov. Angus King, and New Hampshire's Wagner Wind Energy I LLC. The project stalled last year after the Concerned Citizens to Save Roxbury appealed its permit from the Department of Environmental Protection, but the Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled against that appeal in March.

The Yale University Endowment is also investing in the project, according to MPBN.
