Athenahealth seeks to add 80 employees

Health care information firm athenahealth is looking to hire another 80 people at its Belfast office, adding to its current work force of about 400. The company is expanding its geographic reach for new hires to Bangor, where it plans to hold an open house next week.

The Watertown, Mass.-based company manages billing for doctors and medical groups and is looking to hire a variety of analysts in client services, enrollment and revenue, according to the Bangor Daily News. Spokesman David Tassoni said the Belfast office, opened in the former MBNA facility in 2008, has grown about 100 people every year. The company is expanding recruitment in order to attract more qualified applicants, he told the paper.

Last year, the company bought Point Lookout retreat, a former MBNA facility, in Northport for $7.7 million with plans to use it for clients and employee training. Part of the facility remains open to the public.
