Bangor company Red Sox ‘official insurance broker'

Bangor-based Cross Insurance has signed a two-year partnership with the Boston Red Sox to be the franchise's official insurance broker.

As part of the partnership, Cross Insurance signage will be seen on the video board at Fenway Park during the 2012-2013 season, according to a press release from the company. It will also have a presence at other Fenway Park events, like Frozen Fenway, when the park is used for hockey games and community skating, as well as the park's 100th anniversary celebrations. Cross will also have access to hospitality benefits throughout the season, which includes being able to host events at Fenway for existing or potential clients. The company declined to say how much the partnership cost. New York-based USI New England was previously the official insurance broker of the Red Sox.

Executive Vice President Brent Cross said the move strengthens the company's efforts to expand its presence in the greater Boston area. "There is no better way to solidify that presence than by creating what we know will be a valuable relationship with the Boston Red Sox," he said in the release.

Cross Insurance, a subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp., is one of New England's largest insurance providers. It provides more than 15,000 businesses with property and liability insurance, employee benefits packages and other services, with approximately $500 million in premiums. Last year, the company acquired seven other firms in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It has more than 400 employees and at least 34 offices, 14 of which are in Maine. Mindy Woerter
