Garbo to seek 165 workers for Gouldsboro plant

The company taking over the former Stinson Seafood cannery in Gouldsboro will look to hire 165 seasonal workers this spring.

Maine Fair Trade Lobster LLC, a new company formed by the Connecticut-based Garbo Lobster Co. Inc. and East Coast Seafood of Lynn, Mass., will hold a job fair in Ellsworth for the positions at the Prospect Harbor facility in late March, according to the Ellsworth American.

The facility, formerly owned by Live Lobster Co., was purchased for $900,000 in a foreclosure auction earlier this year.

Peter Daley, manager of Garbo's Hancock lobster pound, told the paper that the pay scale for line workers will be $12.50 per hour and $18.75 per hour overtime, plus benefits. Daley said production employees will work a single shift six days a week from June through January.
