Decades-old Bath business abruptly closes

A Bath appliance store that was originally opened in 1924 has abruptly closed and left customers without the goods and services they paid for.

The Coastal Journal reported that the mysterious closure of Gediman's Appliance and its Lewiston counterpart store has befuddled the Maine Attorney General's Office, which hasn't been able to contact business owners Peter and Serrene Gagnon of Poland.

John Gordon, a Woolwich-based contractor, told the newspaper that he hasn't been able to retrieve a $3,000 deposit he had paid the store.
