Maine small businesses eligible for SCORE grant
Small businesses in Maine may be eligible for part of a $700,000 grant award that will provide recipients with training, business resources and networking opportunities.
SCORE announced Monday that two businesses from each state and the District of Columbia will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to a training event, a $1,000 gift card to national retailer Sam’s Club and promotion through a year-long marketing campaign. The competition, called the American Small Business Championship, is sponsored by SCORE and Sam’s Club.
To be eligible, small businesses must currently generate revenue and have been operating for at least one year. Small businesses can apply through score.org/championship by either submitting a 60-second video or a 250-word essay with a photo in response to the question, “What sacrifice have you made to help your business succeed?” Each applicant must also gather 100 votes for its online entry between Jan. 12 and Feb. 6.
