Maine restaurants named to 'America's Essential Restaurants' list
Eater.com, a popular food blog owned by the Vox Media digital media empire, has placed two Maine restaurants, Eventide Oyster Co. in Portland and the Palace Diner in Biddeford, on its annual “America’s Essential Restaurants” list.
The Portland Press Herald reported that the two restaurants are among 38 restaurants on the nationwide list, which includes such world-renowned eateries as Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City as well as Vedge in Philadelphia, Pa., which regularly tops the list of restaurants specializing in vegan fare.
Bill Addison, Eater.com’s restaurant editor, writes in his review about Eventide Oyster Co. that, “Though clearly reveling in New England flavors (don't miss the Maine blueberry pie in high summer), the kitchen's cross-cultural playfulness gives Eventide a winning edge.”
