Maine, national real estate trends show growth

The Maine Association of Realtors has reported that 1,089 single-family homes were sold in March — a 14.63% jump from March 2015. But the good news from the Realtors association doesn’t stop there, as the value of homes in the state has risen by 7.35% to a median sales price of $182,500.

“The latest statistics indicate a healthy real estate market statewide this spring with most counties showing year-over-year improvement in number of sales and increasing values,” Ed Gardner, 2016 president of the Maine Association of Realtors, said in a statement. “Conversations with realtors around Maine indicate that the market is brisk at all price points with multiple offer situations a regular occurrence for move-in-ready properties.”

On Wednesday, the National Association of Realtors also reported a 2.6% rise in sales of single-family homes nationwide, with a median sales price increase of 5.8% in March.
